Questions About Organizing?

What is Home Organizing?

Studies show that the human brain responds to clutter by releasing cortisol into the body.  By making very specific decisions about what items we keep around us, we curate a life that reflects our values and contributes to a state of calm and confidence.

We will work together to create organizational systems that work specifically for you, ones that take as little effort to maintain as possible.

What should I do to prepare for the consultation?

You don’t have to do anything to prepare.  This is a no-judgment operation.  It’s important that we review your space in its current state so we can see any patterns of behavior that need to be adjusted or addressed.  I realize this can be a very vulnerable process, which is why I decided to also become a Professional Coach, in addition to a Certified Professional Organizer.  I’m here to help you bravely face whatever your situation is.

Will sessions be confidential?

Everything about any organizing or coaching session with Life-Style-ist is completely confidential in accordance with Washington State Law. I will always get your permission to take before and after photos, so that will be completely up to you.

Do you work alone?

I am definitely able to work alone and take care of your space for you. Sometimes, depending on the job, I encourage my clients to work alongside me.  This can be crucial in the decision-making and purging phase of decluttering.  Clients who are an active part of the process will better understand the systems that have been put into place and are more likely to maintain those systems over time.  Also, working with me makes the job go faster, saving you the expense.

Will you help me get rid of my items?

Yes, we will discuss these options in our consultation, depending on the size of the organizing job.  For smaller items, I can remove and donate items as we go.  (Additional charges may apply for drop-off times.)  For larger jobs, we can review removal and donation options and get those set up before the job begins.

Do you purchase the supplies?

Purchasing organizing containers and materials can be very expensive so this is completely up to your vision for the finished project.  Using items that you already own is a great option for smaller budgets.  If additional items are necessary I will make suggestions. You can choose to purchase the items or I can shop and make the purchases for you. (Additional charges may apply for shopping.)

What are your fees?

Hourly rates for residential projects are $95 per hour.

What forms of payment are accepted?

I will invoice you via email for payment by credit or debit card. Payment is due at the end of each work session. If you need to pay some other way for any reason we can arrange that.

What is your cancellation policy?

I request 24 hours’ notice for all cancellations. I reserve the right to charge fees for cancellations at a rate equal to 3 hours of time.
